Depending on what time of the year you come to visit Vancouver, driving overall can be quite fun. Of course we are known for our rain as well so if you don’t find driving in such conditions romantic or “nice”, it’s best to drop by in the Summer or the start of Spring.

During this period, Vancouver is downright spectacular.

Check out just these handful of places where you can drive around and truly experience the legendary Vancouver summer.

GROUSE MOUNTAIN

One of the most popular spots both locally and internationally. Grouse mountain is of the top 5 most visited places in Vancouver. You won’t just enjoy the drive up there but once you get there, don’t forget to take the ever so famous gondola. It will take you to the top of the mountain. Don’t be surprised if you spot a bear down in the Valley while you are going up.

STANLEY PARK

Known as the crown jewel of Vancouver, Stanley park is one of the biggest of it’s kind in the world. A sure-fire spot for a picnic, you will absolutely delighted in driving around here. In fact, 99% of our bike rentals go straight to Lord Stanley Park. They cruise around, relax, take tons of pictures and eventually call it a day. No trip to Vancouver is complete without a visit to this beautiful park of ours.

WEST END

Oh boy! Labelled by the locals as ‘A little piece of heaven’, prepare to see some of the most beautiful environments that Vancouver has to offer. Walk around like the ‘Westenders’ enjoying incredibly unique trees and greenery or drive along mid sized roads surrounded by multicoloured cherry blossoms. It is truly a feast for the eyes and a delight for your senses. We actually agree with the locals here. The West end community is truly one slice of heaven.

Plus you will meet one of the nicest people around. People in Vancouver dream of living in this community. Especially the young professionals.

WEST VANCOUVER

Once you arrive in Vancouver and start to make your way to downtown core, you might see a lot of duplexes and townhomes along the way. As nice as they are, they are no match for the massive homes you get to drive around in West Vancouver. Some famous people live there as Jim Pattison, Jackie Chan, Michael Jordan, Tony Robbins,

If you want to see how the rich live, drive around there. Also the gorgeous views of the entire city doesn’t hurt either.

WHISTLER

2-hour drive or less, this place is notorious for excellent skiing and snow-related activities. In fact, Whistler has hosted various world class events including the Olympics. Whistler is also well known for its nightlife so you get to enjoy nature while the sun is out and have a great time at night. However, that is just all a bonus. The drive you will enjoy is truly legendary. With so many scenic spots along the way, driving to Whistler is a delight for the senses.

HORSESHOE BAY

If you just want to go for a long drive, nothing beats getting on Highway 1 and drive to Horseshoe bay. Horseshoe bay is another part of Vancouver and it also has a ferry terminal. These ferries go to Vancouver Island and Bowen Island as well. If you are driving to this area in the daytime, you enjoy beautiful scenic Vancouver and at night, just pull up near the water and enjoy the stars.

Although there are tons of places in Vancouver where you can drive around, if you can experience just two or three of these places on your trip, you would have officially tasted Vancouver.

Once you are done, you can go tell your friends back home on how much fun you had in one of the most livable cities in the world.
